Self-sourced support: Rest, Action and the Return to Yourself.

How do we truly support ourselves?

This reflection isn’t new. It’s one I return to again and again, each time finding something deeper, quieter, more essential.

Not in the sense of pushing through, or being endlessly self-reliant — but in the quiet, grounded sense of returning to our own centre.

In the nervous system, support often begins with the simplest gesture: a pause.

When we let ourselves rest — not just physically, but emotionally and sensorially — we create space to feel again. To soften. To notice that the ground is there, holding us.

And from that place, movement (action) becomes meaningful.

Support can feel like

🌀 A breath that lands.
🌀 Feet that connect to the floor.
🌀 A spine that feels its own uprightness.
🌀 The sound of our voice emerging gently.
🌀 A small action taken — not from urgency, but from presence.

This is self-sourced support.
And it becomes the foundation for how we meet the world.

It echos through my own body, my practice, my work. It’s why I structure my classes, workshops and retreats around a cycle of rest awareness gentle action.

Because this is how we return to ourselves — again and again.

If you’re feeling the call to come back to yourself in this way, here are two invitations:
